Developing dApps sometimes requires mastering programming languages — a task that may seem daunting at first. However, it is through these languages that the true potential of dApps is unlocked. Lua Script is one such language that plays a crucial role in this endeavor.

Today, we’re thrilled to unveil how even the most intricate tasks in dApp development can be effortlessly achieved, thanks to the powerful tools available on the Graphlinq platform!

But first, let’s delve into Lua and its possibilities.

Lua, a scripting language commonly associated with game development, is quickly making waves in the blockchain industry.

Its versatility extends to powering smart contracts and crafting tailored solutions, offering a plethora of advantages:

  • Lightweight and efficient, Lua is ideal for fast and responsive decentralized apps.
  • Its seamless integration with existing blockchain platforms makes it easily embeddable and highly adaptable.
  • With a simple syntax and user-friendly API, Lua is perfect for newcomers diving into DApp development.
  • Its high level of customization makes Lua a preferred choice for building personalized trading tools and strategies.

Graphlinq provides various blocks associated with Lua. Each of these blocks can be useful depending on the use case you want to achieve.

  • Execute Lua Script block facilitates the execution of a Lua script and retrieves the results associated with it.
  • Get Lua Exported Parameter block allows the retrieval of return variables subsequent to executing a Lua script.
  • Ethereum Smart Contract Lua Function block, equipped with multiple input and output parameters, permits the execution of a specific script within an Ethereum contract. Remarkably, it streamlines communication with the Ethereum blockchain, eliminating the need for extensive setup with additional blocks.
  • Lua Script block enables you to compose a Lua script, which can be executed either by the “Execute Lua Script” block or integrated into an “Ethereum smart contract’s Lua function”.

Now, let’s put Lua Script to work!

Imagine you want to create a simple application that will buy the top 5 current trending tokens on Dextools and then sell when it goes up or down by 10%. With our Lua engine, this process becomes efficient and fast.

Here’s a glimpse of how to get started:

Step 1. Connect your wallet. You can do it with the “Connect To Wallet” button at the top right side of the IDE.

Step 2. Add a New ETH Block to your setup. This will allow you to:

  • Call the Dextools API and retrieve all trending tokens.
  • Implement verifications within this block to determine whether to sell the tokens.

Step 3. First Subgraph Setup:

  • In the first subgraph, set up blocks to retrieve all trending tokens using a Lua script.
  • Filter the retrieved tokens to include only the top 5.
  • Add the smart contract hashes of the top 5 tokens to an array.

Step 4. Second Subgraph Setup:

  • Set up blocks to check whether the tokens have been bought.
  • If any trending tokens have not been purchased yet, buy them.
  • Loop over all purchased tokens to see if they have increased or decreased by 10%.

Stay tuned for an upcoming detailed step-by-step YouTube tutorial, where we’ll guide you through every aspect of building your DApp masterpiece.
